This Horse is only Gallop - The Archaeological Davidson GardensRémi Brun
Orange Trail
Site number 13 Imagine that there is no sign that you are looking at a horse and yet when you look at the movement of the lights all you see and feel is a galloping horse. This is not just a feeling or hunch, the image is alive and present. Our perception of the world relies on the way our brain processes movement. The outcome is so effective that magically 18 lighted points moving on a set track, a shapeless piece made without material and color, becomes a horse. The installation takes technology a step further in its effort to understand the essence of movement. The piece is an homage to the works of Eadweard Muybridge and Jules Marey, artists who were among the first to combine art, science, theater and biomechanics. Remi Brun has worked for over 15 years as an engineer specializing in capturing movement in three dimension and preparing special effects for cinema. He also works in scientific research and the advancement of cutting edge technology. Go back |
