Motion Field - The Archaeological Davidson Gardens

Filament
England
Orange Trail Site number 13

The piece is a light installation that invites the audience to walk through a huge field made up of rows of light beams. The audience’s movement creates a change in the beams’ color and texture and for a moment creates an echo of movement, a peek into a distant journey, similar to a photo with long exposure. The piece, an imitation of nature’s chaos, explores the relationship between the audience and the installation and that relationship’s influence on the surrounding world.

The piece was first shown at the ‘Lumiere’ in Durham, England and was produced by Artichoke in collaboration with Sky Arts.

Filament- Daniel Adams, Neil Colebeck and Steve Holmes established Filament in 2007 in hope of finding a way to combine the latest technology and art. In their work they combine lighting, sound, video, design and computer programming technology in order to widen the span of their creations. For the past three years they have established themselves as one the leading groups in the field and have participated in festivals throughout the world.
