“And the city shall be built upon her own mound” - The Tekuma Gardens

Tohar Ben Yehuda
Israel
Orange Trail Site number 9

Light constructions placed in the gardens seem to sprout from the ancient ruins found there. The buildings stand naked and half transparent, thus creating doubt whether they exist or not. Rising from the depths of the ruins and ancient walls, the buildings expose a huge gap of space and thought. For a moment, the illuminated garden and the monumental light constructions embody the vision of the “new city” while still remaining connected to old experiences and history. A city of past, present and future.

Tohar Ben Yehuda An interdisciplinary artist and light designer. Among his recent works: “Future”, a single installation of light and sound that develops in correspondence with the space of the historic water tower in Kiryat Tiv'on.
